2012 Scenic Tourism Award

The High Bridge Pedestrian Bridge at High Bridge State Park in Prince Edward County is the winner of the 2012 Scenic Tourism Award. Brockenbrough assisted the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation in development of this trail, including designing bridge improvements at six railroad bridges and developing a “prototype” bridge deck to be used at High Bridge and other Virginia State parks. Most notable of these is the historic High Bridge railroad span over the Appomattox River near Farmville. Originally constructed in 1914, the bridge is 2,418 feet long and 160 feet high. For this project Brockenbrough was a consultant to STV/Ralph Whitehead. Brockenbrough team members include Carrie Langelotti, Jerry Dziedzic, Thomas Condrey, Mark Bryan and Mark Jimison.
