Transportation is one of our core areas of expertise. For over half a century Brockenbrough has provided services to the Virginia Department of Transportation and Virginia localities throughout the State of Virginia. Our experience includes roadway design, hydraulics and hydrology, traffic management plans, construction sequencing, utility adjustments, public participation, design of interstate rest areas and welcome centers, and intelligent transportation systems.

Utility Systems

Brockenbrough offers design services for water systems, wastewater facilities and utilities. For water systems this includes transmission, storage and treatment. For wastewater facilities this includes collection, handling and treatment; and for utilities this includes water, sewer and gas lines as well as underground electrical duct bank, telecommunications and cable television installations. Our broad experience gives us the skills to meet any challenge that may occur during the design and construction process.

Site Development

Our site development engineers offer broad experience, knowledge and a clear understanding of the principles needed for all aspects of site design. It is important to determine potential environmental impacts as early as possible. This includes full consideration of erosion and sediment control, and storm water management requirements and options. Our clients can have the confidence that their designs comply with the latest local and state regulations. Master planning is an acquired art and something that Brockenbrough has been doing for over 50 years.
