Jerry Dziedzic Celebrates 15 Years

Congratulations to Jerry Dziedzic, PE who is celebrating 15 years of service with Brockenbrough this year. Jerry is responsible for starting our Structural Engineering department way back in 2001, and he has developed it into a significant and important part of our practice. With Jerry’s leadership, we now design in-house the foundations for large, complex, fuel storage facilities; we oversee the intricate details on the restoration of historic buildings; and we routinely handle unusual structures called for by our architectural designs on various building projects.

One of Jerry’s favorite projects was the repair of two buried concrete fuel storage tanks built in 1915 at the U.S. Navy Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The tanks are unique due to their age and configuration – they measure 130 feet by 130 feet by 30 feet deep (70,000 bbl). It is the only time we have retrofitted a rectangular concrete tank with a metal tank inside of it. With this knowledge, we have since repaired many notable fuel storage tanks, and we have expanded this service to include other types of historic structures.
Jerry is a father of two daughters and a son, and he and Nancy are now raising two of their grandchildren. His favorite place for relaxation is the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
