New Pedestrian Bridge, University of Richmond

About This Project

Brockenbrough provided structural and civil engineering for this new 225 foot pedestrian bridge on the University of Richmond campus.

Work included plans and specifications for a prefabricated steel truss bridge approximately 225’ long by 8’ wide.  The bridge was constructed of weathering steel with a composite deck and  connected a newly redesigned parking lot to new road improvements.  Bridge/site layout required avoiding protected wetlands as well as minimal impact to the surrounding trees and wooded area.  Bridge abutment, pier foundation design, and lighting were also provided.
