Director of Business Development – Federal/DoD

Austin Brockenbrough & Associates, LLC is a multi-discipline consulting engineering and architecture firm that provides civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering; architecture; surveying; and subsurface utility designation to a wide variety of public and private clients.  While our work is global, our office is located in Richmond, VA. We are currently seeking a Director of Business Development – Federal/DOD market who is self-motivated and ready to contribute to the future success of Brockenbrough. We want the candidate to become an integral part of our team!

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Grow the opportunity pipeline for multi-disciplinary engineering services with new and existing Federal government clients.
  • Generate leads for the firm and provide leadership in actively pursuing leads through the process to generate revenue.
  • Work with marketing staff to prepare qualifications, proposals, and other responses to solicitations.
  • Negotiate contracts with new and existing clients
  • Track sales and relationship activities in existing ERP system.
  • Work with project managers and technical staff to ensure client expectations are clear and that they are being met / exceeded.
  • Meet project budgets, schedules, and performance criteria in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess an outgoing and positive attitude and take personal pride in producing high quality and on-time designs for our clients.
  • Travel, including some overseas to friendly countries, is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of DOD contracts for the architecture and engineering industry
  • Minimum of 15-20 years’ experience in an engineering consulting environment.
  • A current passport or the ability to obtain a passport is required.
  • A majority of this work will be for the U.S. Department of Defense on U.S. installations; therefore, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and personal computer skills.
  • Proven success in account/business development, establishing and maintaining customer relationships.
