Austin Brockenbrough & Associates, a Stratus Team Company, is a multi-discipline consulting engineering firm. Brockenbrough provides civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering; architecture; surveying; and subsurface utility designation services to a wide variety of public and private clients. Our team of experienced professionals ensures superior quality control while maintaining conservative fiscal and ethical management at the heart of everything we do.

We are currently seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join our team in Richmond, VA. This position will provide the opportunity to work in a team environment as a member of a survey crew as well as independently, utilizing robotic instrumentation and Global Positioning Systems. The projects will involve conducting topographic, boundary, ALTA/NSPS surveys and construction layout and calculations. Projects may take place in various locations around the world.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working knowledge of Trimble data collectors, total stations, Robotics and GPS equipment.
  • Proficient with Civil/Survey software.
  • Daily uploading and downloading of field software.
  • Cleaning and charging field equipment.
  • Obtain knowledge of company’s coding and description techniques.
  • Knowledge of procedures for conducting research for deeds and plats.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, plats, deeds, and field notes.
  • Ability to perform basic survey and mathematical calculations and coordinate geometry.
  • Willingness to adhere to company policies and procedures regarding field methodology.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the survey field.
  • Possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a background check for working on federal government installations.
