POL Training

Brockenbrough recently held an in-house training day for our own POL engineers and several of our clients. What is a POL engineer you ask? That is someone who loves the smell of Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants and stays up late at night wondering how to calculate the pressure rise in a pipe due to the thermal expansion coefficient of JP-8 jet fuel. The general subject of the training was hydraulically operated control valves, and in particular, those manufactured by Cla-Val for use in truck off-loading systems. Vince Benedetti, PE, a Partner with Brockenbrough, hosted the event, and Bob Boseman of Bay Associates led the discussion. Mr. Boseman is the preeminent expert with automated truck off-loading systems, and his expertise sought around the world. We had about 20 clients attend the event with us at our office in Richmond, and everyone came away with some new knowledge about truck off-loading.
