ARCHITECT

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplined team of design professionals to design and oversee construction of a wide variety of project types ranging from historic restoration to large government and industrial facilities.
  • Develop construction drawings and details independently, demonstrating a broad knowledge of design and construction.
  • Visit project sites to make field measurements and notes to document existing facilities.
  • Prepare accurate, well-organized and detailed CAD drawings from field measurements and notes.
  • Provide design, specifications and cost estimating for commercial and government buildings in close collaboration with engineering disciplines.
  • Perform construction phase services such as site visits/observations, submittal review, respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs), etc.
  • Assist the project manager with meeting project budgets, schedules and performance criteria in a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasionally lead teams of design professionals.
  • Occasional travel to project sites and client locations is a requirement. Some travel may be international to friendly countries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture or Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience designing new and renovated government and commercial facilities.
  • LEED certification and interest in sustainable building practices are a plus.
  • Knowledge of design principles, architectural detailing and construction methods for commercial building types.
  • Advanced experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products. Revit experience would be beneficial.
  • Candidate must have an interest and ability to grow professionally, including growing into a project management role.
  • Strong problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and personal computer skills.
