Centre Street

About This Project

Centre Street is a local urban roadway that was reconstructed to four lanes with a raised median, parallel parking, curb and gutter and pedestrian sidewalks. Design services included utility location and designation, geotechnical engineering, hazardous materials evaluation, and right-of-way negotiation and acquisition. Brockenbrough conducted the utility field inspection.

Brockenbrough was responsible for complete design services ranging from concept development to final design and advertisement for bid. Construction phase assistance and inspection services were also provided because of the complexity of construction. Construction was made complicated because open businesses had to be maintained at all times.

This project was the winner of the 2003 Engineering Excellence Grand Award by American Council of Engineering Companies, Virginia
