When the 23 year old, 70-ton water cooled chiller at Patrick Henry Community College’s Stone Hall needed to be replaced, the Virginia Community College System called Brockenbrough. The existing chiller was in need of several expensive repairs to bring it back to full operating capability. In consultation with the Owner, it was decided that it would be in the College’s best interest to replace the chiller with a new chiller.
A temporary chiller was brought in to provide cooling to the building for the College’s Commencement ceremonies. A new refrigerant leak detection system and exhaust fan was installed and the chiller controls were integrated into the building’s Direct Digital Control System.
