The project was designed to VDOT and Chesterfield County Standards for a major arterial roadway and 45 mph minimum design speed. The plans were prepared using imperial units.
The two-lane roadway was widened to include a 16-foot raised median, two new traffic lanes, a shared use lane and a concrete sidewalk within existing right-of-way. All right-of-way and easements had been acquired under a previous project and no additional right-of-way was needed.
An existing storm water management pond was installed along with the original Woolridge Road construction. During the design of the improvements it was determined that the existing structure was adequate to handle the increased runoff from the roadway improvements.
