We are currently seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer who is self-motivated and ready to contribute to the future success of Brockenbrough.

 

This position will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including modifications and replacements to new buildings. Project locations can range from Virginia across the U.S. and possibly worldwide for our Government clients.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical design, inspection, and planning services of systems for a variety of facilities for commercial, industrial and government clients.
  • Designs will include interior and exterior power distribution and lighting and require lighting, service entrance, short circuit, coordination, voltage drop and arc flash calculations.
  • Determine the client’s need and produce solutions which are within their scope and budget.
  • Work alongside other professionals in various disciplines in the development of designs.
  • Ability to produce Construction Documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Perform construction phase services such as submittal review and approval, respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs), conduct site investigation visits, etc.
  • Perform site assessments and develop detailed reports with recommendations and cost estimates.
  • Take field measurements and notes to document existing facilities.
  • Prepare accurate, well-organized, and detailed CAD drawings from field measurements and notes.
  • Able to meet project budgets, schedules, and performance criteria in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel, including some overseas to friendly countries, is required. A current passport or the ability to obtain a passport is required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
  • Previous experience with commercial and industrial power distribution and lighting is required.
  • 10+ years electrical engineering design experience in an engineering consulting environment.
  • Possess a detailed working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • RCDD designation is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Revit is a plus.
  • Strong management skills and a desire to grow professionally.
