Austin Brockenbrough & Associates, LLC is a multi-discipline architecture and engineering firm located in Richmond, Virginia. Brockenbrough provides architecture; civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering; surveying; and subsurface utility designation services to a wide variety of public and private clients.

This position will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of design projects as well as the opportunity to develop career skills, both technical and managerial in nature.  The applicant will be given the opportunity to excel at both managing their own design skills and managing a team of diverse designers.  Applicants will have the opportunity to grow and advance in the organization, whether it is on the technical side of the business or the managerial side.

This position will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of design projects. The projects can be anything from a state or local park to a higher education facility or even a military facility located anywhere in the world.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and produce projects for a wide range of market sectors
  • Provide the primary designer and leadership roles to our multi-disciplinary teams on projects throughout all stages, from concept to delivery
  • Assist in building a skilled architectural staff
  • Demonstrate business development skills by building and maintaining productive relationships with an expanding client
  • Create long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients
  • Develop and drive marketing plans, budgets, and key performance indicators
  • Develop, review, and approve proposals, reports, and contract documents
  • Depending upon the candidate’s experience, some project management may be included initially. Ultimately, we would envisage the candidate growing into the role of managing architectural projects.
  • Possessing an outgoing and positive attitude and taking personal pride in producing high-quality and on-time designs for our clients
  • Traveling, including some overseas to friendly countries, may be required. A current passport or the ability to obtain a passport is required.
  • A portion of this work will be for the U.S. Department of Defense on U.S. installations; therefore, U.S. citizenship is required

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited university
  • Licensed Architect
  • 10 + years of experience working under the supervision of a licensed Architect
  • Must be proficient in Revit or AutoCAD
  • Typical project experience should include designing new and renovated government and commercial facilities
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and personal computer skills
  • An interest in learning and the ability to grow professionally with our business while working under the supervision of licensed architects
